What causes peripheral neuropathy?
Got peripheral neuropathy, but not diabetes?
Today we will look at the main common cause of nephropathy.
One of the main causes is type 2 diabetes itself.
This is due to the excess sugar in the blood in the blood(glucose) becoming toxic to small blood vessels therefore destroying them one by one until there are no longer any blood vessels left to send vital nutrients to the nerve cells located all over the body.
Due to this, over time the nerve cells will become weak, damaged, and die off. Once this happens, your brain will not be able to receive the information from the nerve cells. This leads to numbness.
What vitamin imbalances cause neuropathy?
This cause of peripheral neuropathy usually happens over years and not all of a sudden as many people perceive it to have happened. The symptoms don’t usually appear until the later stages.vi But when they do start to appear it can be very confusing and painful.
If you do a lot of exercise or have a poor diet you may be deficient in b vitamins or e vitamins which are crucial for the nerves to continue sending from the nerves to the brain.
Simple signs of deficiency are numbness and tingling. This also later to other more severe signs such as shooting pain in areas where the nerves are located.
What is Stress and excessive alcohol consumption?
Stress no matter what form of negative stress. when placed on the body, internally or externally, will destroy your overall health and with peripheral neuropathy, this is no different.
Stress increases inflammation in the body which in turn will lower your immune system which will make it easier for you to get ill and recover from illness at a slower rate than usual.
The same goes for excessive alcohol consumption. Alcohol is mostly sugar and this excess sugar will only damage your body when you consume more than your daily allowance can handle.
Many people seem to be unaware that the majority of food has sugar in it. Especially carbohydrates.
How do poisoning and smoking harm nerve health?
Poisoning in the forms of lead, mercury, and arsenic can also cause you to develop peripheral neuropathy. I will do my best to break down in this section.
Let’s start with Mercury poisoning. Mercury poisoning does not only damage the nerves and central nervous system but also the brain and spinal cord.
Mercury is common in fish such as tuna. Consumption of mercury can be reduced by washing the fish carefully before eating it. Lead poisoning is usually caused by breathing paint fumes or dust from lead-based paint, hobby and craft materials, lead fillings used before 2008, and lead pipes just to name a few
Smoking while commonly used to lower stress levels causes peripheral neuropathy by thinning the blood vessels that send oxygen and nutrients to the nerves.
Thinning of the nerves also slows down blood flow, which means poor circulation. The last one on the list. but not least arsenic poisoning can affect the motor(movement) and sensory (feeling)functions of the nerves.
Conclusion
We have looked at the most common causes of peripheral neuropathy above. Starting with type 2 diabetes and how it damages the nerves.
How lacking a certain vitamin or two can also cause the same problem time without you noticing until it is quite serious.
The last few causes were so-called remedies for modern people to handle stress but they can end up stressing the whole body.
Knowing some of the causes listed today can help you alleviate some of the symptoms which I will go over in another post.
The main thing to take away today is to try to follow a healthy mindset and lifestyle when dealing with this disease. See you in the next post!

Hey thank you for this not only interesting topic but essential one too!
Before your post I wasn’t truly aware of the possible causes though I did have a brief idea however reading this has explanations how it is possible and how to avoid it! Quite a serious condition!
I really like how you have concluded on a positive note as well as a reminder about ones health which people beed to remember!
Thanks again and have a great day!
